Adolescent counselling is intended to help the young person make sense of their feelings, thoughts and behaviour. The young person might be experiencing problems at school, issues with friendships or maybe feeling low and anxious without any known cause. Even when a young person has the most supportive family and friends, they can find it difficult if not impossible to explain why, for example, they may be feeling anxious and or depressed. It may be easier for the young person to talk about personal, family, or relationship issues with a person who is independent of friends and family. Most young people cope ok with life’s ups and downs, however sometimes things don’t get better and if the young person is so stressed, worried or anxious that it is having a big impact on their daily life then they might need some extra help to get back on track.
You may be feeling a sense of despair trying to support your child through their struggles and feel at a loss of what to do. My aim is to support your son or daughter to talk about their struggles in a safe non- judgemental space, helping to bring a new perspective and build resilience allowing them to reach their full potential.
